The third installment in a series about how your accessories can have some star power!

Geminis are adventurers in life - they aren’t afraid to try new things and they are fun people to have around. Geminis are known as great communicators - they’re good talkers but also good listeners and are usually dialed in to all the dirt on their friends (famous gossip columnist Hedda Hopper was a Gemini). The Gemini, or two sisters, are also known for having two sides to their personalities.

Gemini Star Style: Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman’s adventurous spirit is seen in her very diverse choice of film roles: from chick flick Practical Magic, edgy comedy To Die For, experimental foreign film Dogville, to blah Hollywood flicks like Far and Away and Days of Thunder. Like all Geminis, Kidman has two sides to her character: she is a celebrity but she is also a humanitarian (recipient of the United Nations Citizen of the World Award). She has had two very different husbands. She is a dual citizen: American and Australian - she was born in Hawaii but has lived most of her life in Australia.

One of my best friends is a Gemini and all of these characteristics fit perfectly with her as well: she loves life and is a fantastic listener. She has her professional side, working in the corporate legal world, but also uses her connections and talents to contribute to local fundraising. Early years in California but living in Canada - she has enjoyed two very different childhoods. Happy Birthday, Kristine!

Weddings are usually all about planning ahead - when you ask someone to marry you, you are asking them to spend the rest of your life with you. Unless you elope, even the wedding event itself takes quite a bit of planning and foresight. So, it just makes sense to shop for a wedding band and the engagement ring at the same time.

I don’t mean that you have to buy them together, but at least keep the band in mind.

For example - jewelers offer sets of rings, engagement rings that have matching wedding rings, as well as stand alone engagement rings.

A Match Made in Heaven

Matching stones on both rings bring the set together visually. Wedding bands don’t have to be plain, boring, bands of gold - they can include designs, diamonds,  and other stones and they don’t have to be shaped in a straight circle: they can be twisted, pointed, or knife-edged (seen below).

Fitting Together Perfectly

Sometimes the shape of the rings complement each other. Keep this in mind when you buy an engagement ring - if it’s an odd shape it might be difficult to find a wedding band that will sit next to it comfortably, without an awkward-looking gap.

They Just ‘Clicked’

Or, the two rings may fit together and actually appear to be one larger ring. This is my favorite style of matching rings - they fit together perfectly (just like the two people getting married, hopefully!).

Here’s another great example- the engagement ring actually rests on top of part of the wedding band, binding them together on your finger.

Trust me, this is something to think about - I write this as I glance down at my white gold engagement ring and yellow gold wedding band… I always intended to just wear my wedding band but I found I was very attached to my engagement ring by the time my wedding rolled around so now I’m wearing both together. They don’t really make a great looking pair but they have learned to tolerate each other…

And don’t worry - if it’s too late to think ahead (she’s already wearing her engagement ring) - a simple wedding band like this will work with almost any ring:

Nora Ephron spent her earliest childhood in the Upper West Side of New York City so it’s not surprising that, like most Taureans, her calm and coolness might be mistaken for snobbery. 

Generally the Taurus personality is one that is known for its steadiness of character, it’s calmness in the face of obstacles,and it’s steadfast nature. 

N0ra Ephron, successful as a writer and a filmmaker, has rightfully earned respect and accolades for her work. If you were lucky enough to be born between April 20th and May 20th then you are a Taurus - destiny made me a huge fan of this star sign: my husband, my daughter, and one of my very best friends is  a Taurus. So is my sister-in-law and she is one of the women that I truly admire - she’s classy, cool, and kind - and she’s the type of mom that I aspire to be.

There is a very good reason why you must go to Costa Rica now. There is also a better reason to go to the Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. When you get there, make sure you visit the 1965 Boeing 727 airplane converted Costa Verde resort. This is a cool hotel which also has a two bedroom suite.

You can expect a spectacular view from the bedroom and you could watch the mountains and forests of Costa Rica. The two bedroom, two bathroom suite comes with a kitchenette, a place to dine, a terrace from where you can watch the ocean and many other things. There is no price listed and I am sure it is going to be insanely expensive.

I would suggest you to make sure you stay here when you are in Costa Rica. Moreover, Costa Rica is a beautiful country so you really should go there as soon as possible.

Erwin Sattler has launched the Custodia. The Custodia is a great piece of furniture, which comes with secret space to save all your treasured material. The idea that these pieces of furniture can hold so many secrets is something that baffles me. Imagine, you have a closet and you think the owner keeps only wine in it.

If you prod a little or just snoop around, you would find diamonds and jewelry in the secret space. It also doubles up as a watch winder and is too luxurious for the common man’s tastes. There is also a 13-layer varnish to give the closet a shiny and pampered look. It also comes with LED lamps so that your precious watches glow in the light and you could show off in front of your guests.

The furniture itself is well designed and when you are opening the door or using it otherwise, it makes no creaky noises thanks to the great quality of materials used here. The Erwin Settler Custodia costs from $77,865 to $117,330.

There are times when you are chilling a bottle of champagne but the case looks really bad. In such a time, you should go ahead and get one of the more exclusive cases manufactured by Moet & Chandon. The company has unveiled some really cool midnight gold case and it is designed to chill only Moet and Chandon. It has been designed by Camille Toupet, and she a French designer.

It comes with Swarovski crystals in order to make it look like the champagne bubbles. Though it does not exactly look like bubbles, it certainly looks very cool and beautiful. It is covered with 14 carat gold and only a limited edition of 100 would be made available.

Considering the exclusivity and also the charm, this case would cost you a lot of money. However, I would suggest you get this for yourself, as it is so cool.

If you are a serious vintage aircraft collector, even the current slump times should not deter you. While the number of collector items and curios of different kinds are available for asking still, another reason to cheer for a collectible is that Classic Aero Restorations has just restored a Hawker Hurricane Mk IIB circa 1940.

It belongs to the illustrious Hurricane series of single seater fighter aircraft flown by the Royal Air Force of Britain during their historical battle of Britain. Way back then, aeronautical engineer Sydney Camm had designed these aircraft which because of their low maintenance, long life and rugged build, were a favoured lot. On its website, Classic Aero Restorations says that at the moment, only seven flying Hurricanes are known to exist.

The air cruising speed of these aircraft is 325 miles per hour and can fly at a height of 36,000 feet. In the face of flak and some demands to keep the aircraft instead of throwing them away, the firm has restored them to a good flying state. Alongside, Classic Aero Restorations will also sell Spitfire T9 from 144 from the series.

Think Music and our minds are so attuned to black boxes, speakers and the likes, that we cage our musical minds to them. However, Reuge, world reknowned for its manufacture of pioneering luxury music boxes and singing birds, has put music into, not even a chair, but a table. Titled Manhattan Musical table, it is meant to be a subtle piece of work, but is classy, while being contemporary. It was showcased at Baselworld 2009.

Its amazing tapestry work actually has not less than 3,300 pieces of pear tree and chestnut wood pieces. Compact in design, yet precise in detail, the table has two side drawers that hide 12 interchangeable cylinders. Each cylinder plays three tunes on 72 notes. It has a unique collection that includes Hungarian Dance by Brahms, Guiseppe Verdi’s Aida and Yesterday by Beatles.

The music table is a sure tribute to the music lover who can splurge for some posterity, some class and a great deal of elegance.

Reuge’s music box designs are known for their subtle nature. If you can afford it, go for the luxe piece of furniture and music blended together.

Bentley Continental is here to make you go bankrupt within a few instants. It costs $267,000 and would run at the speed of 204 MPH. The gas guzzler tax and delivery charges are extra. The car comes with some serious specifications like 6.0 litre W!” and also 621 HP. It also has 590 lb-ft of torque which suggest the car is more powerful than you can imagine.

The car looks as stylish as any Bentley and you could certainly drive down Mulholland Drive in Hollywood. It would be interesting to drive down the road and feel the pinch of tragedies that have taken place there. If you can’t drive till Hollywood, any classy shopping area would be good enough to ride this car.

I would certainly love to have this car but unfortunately I am poor as a church mouse, which only leaves me gawking at all the fineries of the world and writing about them, instead of purchasing something even remotely expensive.

If you have been looking at some interesting pods for work, chances are you have come across many of them. The Easy Net Space is a pod just for accessing Internet in privacy. In most places, the product has received neutral to bad reviews. However, I believe this product has a kitschy cool character that beats all the other pods I have seen till now.

It comes with a 19″ screen, speakers, illuminated keys, a sexy mouse and other such accessories. You could go ahead and get a Wi-fi connection or anything else for that matter, as it can be easily customized. It is available in vibrant and bright colours like red, silver, and black.

The price and availability are not known but you could always check with the manufacturers to see if they are unveiling this beauty anytime soon. In any case, the unfair reviews only indicate that people lack good taste and when something cool like this comes up, people choose to ignore because of ignorance.

Designer Byron Lee has created the AQUATIO in order to solve the problems of standard drinking fountains. Usually the height of the fountains are not very user friendly and also, it is difficult to fill up bottles.

The design also reduces the splash when you are filling water so that you remain dry and not get splashed by water from the fountain. This is targeted at gym goers and also visitors to fitness centres. People would not have to bend a lot nor would they have to make a mess out of filling water in to the bottle. It is going to cost between $600 and $1000.

You could get both hot and cold water to drink and I am sure this is required not only in gyms but also in schools and other places where one needs clean and chic drinking facilities. In my opinion, this drinking fountain called the AQUATIO could be used in homes as well, as it is convenient to use and quite affordable as well.

A cocoon. A space-ship like urn. Relaxer. Call it what you want, but its makers have named it, Human Regenerator. A thirty minute session in it is meant for holistic health in the soothing environs of your own home.

How does it work? It is a vertical cylinder when you enter its wavy entrance. Once someone activates the touch-screen, the invisible process of regeneration begins while the tube-like container moves to a horizontal position.

The concept of unicycles gave birth to the idea of single wheeled motor bikes but that hasn’t been a very strange thing. Although motor bikes with wheels would be more hard to handle and balance when compared to a unicycle, the concept isn’t very difficult to accept. The idea of a bike standing within its own solo wheel, on the other hand, is a bit difficult to digest.

Bikers around the world have carved a niche for themselves in coming up with the zaniest designs. Even though most designs remain a concept, we live with the belief that this is so only because the designer could not get it to the right people. The Monobike concept gives me the same idealistic hope. Designed by Akaraolis, the Monobike was conceptualised as part of a project when the designer was at college but such a beautiful piece of work cannot be left alone and the idea has resurfaced after a few mods in design using Rhino3D.

The Monobike is intended to be reminiscent of the WWII bikes and accomplishes that. No bike during, before or after that war has had a design as cool as this, on the other hand.

If you had enough money then you would undoubtedly own a yacht for even those who do not live anywhere near water bodies or have any skill when it comes to sailing still desire to own one. Yachts are not just beautiful creations; they also herald the entry into the realm of the in-people.

Frauscher has been known for quite some time as the king of yacht makers. Their latest product is the 686 Lido Dino Feltrinelli, lauched in celebration of the quarter century collaboration between Frauscher and Feltrinelli. Hte title of the yacht would surely remind you of the 2007 686 Lido after which it is named and perhaps designed as well. The 686 Lido Dino Feltrinelli becomes a special creation of the company and even had the prestige of debuting at the 40th international boat show at Dusseldorf. Designed by Annette Hintwirth, the 686 Lido Dino Feltrinelli includes 360degree swivelling chairs so everyone can enjoy the panoramic view, electrical connection hidden away in the floor, and height adjustable tables. The interiors reek of luxury, including the eight seats upholstered with genuine waterproof leather.

23.5ft long and powered with a 425PS V* engine, the 686 Lido Dino Feltrinelli also features a windshield which adjusts height automatically depending upon the speed. Only 9 of these luxury yachts have been made but there is no information about the pricing yet.

Watch making, even in its non-luxury form is such an art and it becomes difficult for the watch makers to carry through every process of producing a fine watch by the same company. Louis Vuitton has made the whole process of watch making one of their own with their latest masterpiece.

The Tambour Mystérieuse, as the name suggests, is a mysterious piece that elevates the materialisation of time. The Tambour Mystérieuse has a display piece emblazoned with the brand name which is elevated by placing it on sapphire crystal disks. Not only does this create the illusion that the piece is floating inside the bezel but it also gives the watch the signature mysterious title. The Tambour Mystérieuse is available as a manual or automatic and come with a host of customising options. You can choose what stones go on the watch and even the metal which makes up the casing.

The Tambour Mystérieuse comes in its own Louis Vuitton trunk and will cost you $265,000. Each watch of the model takes a whole year to be finished which will probably give you an idea why this costs so much.

Rappers no long stay lost in their own music world. They are on the front page on fashion magazines, have their own accessories line and, not to mention, make a lot of crime news. Damon Dash has been no different, especially with his own jewellery band Tiret New York.

Now Damon has delved into another lucrative business, automotive design. With the creation of the Tiret Sport Coupe, Damon has taken over yet another fashionable piece of business under his wings. Designed after the Range Rover Sport, the Tiret Sport Coupe was launched at the watch expo Baselword. The SUV has Nappa leather upholstered seats, wood trim, and exterior mods include wider flared arches, LED lighting (just like the Fiat Barbie 500?) and 22” alloy wheels. Screaming luxury even further is the full glass sunroof. If you think that is enough then you are so mistaken. The Tiret Sport Coupe also has real diamond accents on its watch dial displays from the Tiret diamond timepieces along with a central clock. 

The Tiret Sport Coupe is so exclusive that even its price is being kept secret. The price is available on demand but, of course, would be so filthy expensive that most people would faint upon hearing.

Who could possibly ever forget, Wall-E, the sweet little robot that was left behind on Earth when it became a massive landfill? Even though his lady love Eve was faster, shinier and a whole lot better technically and as a robot, it was Wall-E that was the star of the movie.

It appears that Wall-E didn’t just inspire geeks to ask out beautiful girls but even inspired designers to create cooler furniture. Fred Baier doesn’t say so but his Dual Quad Desk does look strangely like Wall-E. The desk has been designed with three different looks though each has a striking resemblance to the other. According to the designer, the desk in pale flesh colour with the haunting blue eyes is the baddie, so perhaps the one in dark charcoal grey must be the angelic version of these. The desks were made for a private collection in UK and US.

The transformer robot Dual Quad Desks were handmade from lacquered birch plywood and each one costs £11,100. It may sound a bit extravagant but a lot has gone into the creation of each of the desks.

 When you’re sitting down with a great game, you want to have the write gaming paraphernalia with you along with an environment that is as conducive to your gaming experience. Such an environment would also include just what kind of chair you are in.

You don’t want to be sitting in a boring old armchair when you are going to have the most fun of your life. Take a look instead at the Morfojet. Designed by Gianni Pedone, the super cool armchair has been designed for Morfonauta and will feature at this year’s Milan Design Week. The armchair is designed after jet turbines as two turbines linked together with the seat in the middle. The Morfojet has an entertainment unit built to heighten the pleasure of your experience. Rumour has it that the aerodynamically designed Morfojet armchair has two powerful 400w amplifiers, six tweeters, and a big 300w bazooka subwoofer.

With such an amazingly aerodynamic design, perhaps the armchair will fly off the moment you strap yourself in and set the music going. Only bad news is, the Morfojet is just a concept.

The only thing that we can be sure to expect, the only thing that is inevitable, ‘the leveller’ that reduces each person to the same state as any other is death. It is strange then that so many people are afraid of it and wish to do everything they can to make their existence during and after death as comfortable as their life.

Serbians have found a way to make their afterlife quite comfortable in a way that sustains their good looks. Apparently, the latest rage in Serbia is air-conditioned coffins. A trend that started in Novi Sad have people opting to buy hi-tech coffins that keep the corpses of their loved ones below freezing temperature so that the corpses remain fresh looking during the summer months. There is no information about whether the coffins would continue to freeze the inmate after their burial or not but it seems nobody thought of just getting the burial over with as soon as possible instead of spending thousands over these fancy coffins.

Each casket would cost you about $6,600 which may seem like an exorbitant amount of money to be spending on something that will rot away underground in a few years. Perhaps, they wanted for their loved ones to look just as good when St. Peter welcomes them at the Pearly Gates.

Here is something you really wouldn’t want to buy if you wanted to look chic. This mouse is designed to look like gold bullion and it surely looks very odd and bad. It is one of the more ergonomically badly designed products released lately. It comes with only two regular buttons and not even a wheel to scroll.

The way it shines in its yellow, it would surely make you look like the tackiest creature ever. If trying to look cool was your intention, you might just forget about it. Buying this would only prove you are more uncool than Big Ethel from Archie’s comics.

It even costs $35 and that should help you understand why it is so tacky. It looks like gold but it is not. Moreover, gold and yellow look really bad. I would have liked something in silver though, as that would look more stately and chic.

If you thought your bathroom was a dead and boring place, all you would need to do is get one of these uber cool bath cabinets. Anna Van der Lei has created a combination of a bath and a cabinet which results in a portable bath and a closet.

Called the Badkast in Dutch, the bath cabinet derives its inspiration from Dutch and Finnish countryside where bathing by the lake and in saunas are common respectively. The bath cabinet is made of a tree trunk which has been dried for eight years. This allows the trunk to withstand humidity and water while being used in a bathroom.

The user can open and close the cabinet and bath as they please and thus they can take a bath where they please. This is one of the more interesting and charming ideas I have come across lately. I guess you should contact the designer and get yourself one!

The latest range of LCD TVs from Innovizion is outdoor, weatherproof high definition televisions with built in wireless connectivity. The same set up also allows you to connect them to a DVD or video player so you never miss your favourite shows no matter where you are. The receiver in the TV will receive signals from up to 50m away. The TVs come with a whole package which includes digital tuners and built in stereo speakers. Phone manufacturing companies sometimes appear to have nothing better to do than bringing out blinged out versions of extremely bad designs. Taking after the tradition of Gresso’s weird designs, GoldVish brings out the GoldVish Revolution.

Swiss company GoldVish once hit it big with their phone, GoldVish Le Million, which was touted as the world’s most expensive phone. Unfortunately, they went expensively horrid this time round. The GoldVish Revolution ultra luxury phone made in pink and white gold and splattered with a healthy dose of diamonds. Throwing caution to the winds, GoldVish has attached a huge mechanical watch assembled by Frederic Jouvenot. Instead of the unique look GoldVish must have been aiming at with this bit of innovativeness, the addition of the beautiful though unnecessary mechanical watch takes up way too much space and give the phone a rather elongated and bland look.

The GoldVish Revolution was kept on display during the Baselworld 2009 fair. Only 9 pieces of the Revolution has been made and will be sold for $488,150 though the release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Shark tooth break rotors, foot actuated and hand actuated breaks increase safety in the bike and reduces the risks. The Zero S Electric Supermoto is also fitted with projector beam headlight for focused light, and the dash gives information on speed, charge and motor temperature.

The 2009 Zero S electric supermoto may sound like a dream but will cease being so when it comes into production next month. The Zero S is priced at $9,950 with an extra $500 for shipping charges.

The device which comes from a collaboration between Neuma and RKS Design is the first air powered tattoo machine. The device heralds the era of less painful tattoos and also promises a decreased healing time after getting one. Weighing one third of the typical tattoo machine, the Neuma Hybrid uses lesser air consumption and has an ameliorated pneumatic designing for providing more powerful performances.

The Neuma Hybrid can be used as an electric device as well and has an optimised cycle timing reducing the drag on skin during tattooing. The device is fully autoclavable in both modes and would result in the ultimate tattooing experience.

The PUMA project (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility) involves a communication system that allows vehicles on the road to interact with each reducing the possibility of traffic jams and accidents. The futuristic looking vehicle is powered by a lithium-ion battery and can cruise at speeds of 35mph. On a single charge, the vehicle can go up to 35 miles.

Currently, the two seater electric vehicle is just at the conceptual stage and may never reach the production age. The vehicle does not look very comfortable and the fact that it does not have any luggage space is a definite negative.

Christie’s will bring you something quite extraordinary at one of their auctions taking place on the 7th of this month. This fossilised gemstone, Ammonite, is of a mollusc that went into extinction over 80 million years ago. The beautiful rainbow colour of the fossil is from centuries of pressure on the shell of the sea creature. The smaller of two Ammonites being auctioned off, the fossil was found in Alberta, Canada. It is estimated that the fossil could fetch $68,000.

The prices of ammonites have recently increased due to the attractiveness of its rarity. If you have anywhere near $68,000 you could go over to the Natural History sale at Paris and get it for your mantelpiece.

Steam engines have always been quite fascinating and though the age of vehicles powered from steam appear to be over, the desire to create more vehicles and run them with steam power hasn’t been extinguished. A Brit car may soon break the speed record for steam cars.

The British Steam Car is being touted as the world’s ‘fastest kettle’. The 25 foot long sleekly curved steam car can hit speeds of 60mph and has been tested at the Ministry of Defence’s Thorney Island facility. The car has been built mimicking the style of the Bluebird hydroplane. The speed record for a steam car is currently being held by a Stanley steam car driven by American Fred Marriot in 1906. The speed record of 127mph has been held unbroken for the past 103 years. Don Wales, who has test driven the British Steam Car, insisted that the car works perfectly and that the team was confident of breaking the century old record.

Although the record has stayed untouched for so long, Wales is not just sure of breaking it but claims to be able to make a new record of 170mph. Wales and his team have spent over a decade on the project and hope to earn the coveted title soon.

Under the hammer were 481 timepieces, but this one saw some fierce bidding. The auction saw a lot of potential interest from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Russian Federation and the United States, besides internet based interest.

Not without reason. The watch is an extremely rare piece, very fine and water resistant, is made of 18 kt yellow gold wristwatch, bezel set with 28 baguette diamonds and its dial set with 240 diamonds and nine sapphires.

Let’s take the example set by German billionaire Reinhold Wuerth.  He is number 93 on The Forbes 2009 list and has made all the moolah thanks to his screw manufacturing business. That apart, the man has been in news for laying off his workers by faking a recession. And now, he has gone on to buy a $100 million yacht.

Touted as a convicted tax evader, this man is busy celebrating the christening of his newly-acquired super yacht, the Vibrant Curiosity. This 85-meter yacht was built at the Oceano dock near Rotterdam. Two diesel engines generate 4,680 horsepower and make it achieve a speed of 18.5 knots.

The interior is also very luxurious. There is a large master cabin accompanied by opulent a VIP suite and several other luxury cabins for 14 guests. Wuerth is keeping mum about his new purchase. The liner is impressive but the infamous history of the owner is difficult to ignore when judging this vessel.

Italian brand KOS has a strong reputation of creating products that expand in terms of both shape and space. All this is done while keeping a stringent check on the quality and functionality of the item being manufactured. And now the company is happily flaunting its latest in-house pool concept that they like to call the Faraway Pool.

The Faraway Pool can be built in the floor and its very contemporary and asymmetric shape is very pleasing too. A very impressive illumination system sits in the bottom of the pool. Even the steps of the mini pool double up as sources of light. So, now you can actually plan some romantic activities down here. Referred to as the Audi Centennial, this new design in time telling business is called the Tachoscope and it complements the occasion. So far only 100 pieces have been created with 35 crafted in platinum and the remaining 65 in white gold. You can very well expect the highest quality in design as well as mechanism. The folks at Swarovski sure know how to expand their horizons. After doing up a custom-ordered steam room for the luxury resort Bag Ragaz, they are now all set to do yet another innovative project for another travel destination that goes by the name of Sparkling Hill Resort and Wellness Hotel in Canada. This one is perched high up on cliff above the Okanagan Lake.

Although many of the hotel’s peers have decided to halt their constructions due to the financial crunch, the guys at Sparkling Hill are willing to shell out $55 million bucks for the Swarovski project which will be first of its kinds to incorporate the precious element into every aspect of its design.

The brains behind all this are hoping to dazzle their guests from the moment they lay their eyes on the hotel. And of course, the beauty of Lake Okanagan will be complementing the splendor of the all glittering ice on the hotel resort. The new hotel will comprise of 15 rooms spread across 240,000 square feet.
